Northstar et Aurora

Sneak peeks

From the pages of The Uncanny X-Men #414 (December 2002)

Story: Chuck Austen, Art: Sean Phillips

When I learned that the writer of the Uncanny X-Men series (whom I knew since his work on the U.S. War Machine miniseries) had the intention of recruiting Northstar in the famous team of mutants, I was very very excited. I knew that Mr. Austen was very close to the readers and that he was open to suggestions made by fans. I decided to contact him to offer my humble services. He enthusiastically answered me the very next day.

I explained that Northstar had always been one of my favourites, but that the character often lacked authenticity because the authors who gave him life knew nothing of Québécois culture. In real life, Québécois do not use expressions like "sapristi" or "sacrebleu". I sent him a list of Québécois expressions. Well, I didn't have to wait very long! I was very surprised to see not one, but two of the expressions I had suggested in the pages of issue 414, the very first one featuring Northstar.

It's a lot of fun to stop being a simple spectator for once and make a (small and humble) contribution to the show. After all, this is a comic that is being read throughout the world. Here are a few panels from this issue that now has a very special place in my collection.
